New details have emerged in relation to two hugely anticipated upcoming Square Enix titles: the Final Fantasy VII Remake and Kingdom Hearts 3.
Screenshots of the respective titles have been released by Square Enix at the Monico Anime Game International Conference (MAGIC 2017). See the two Final Fantasy VII screen caps below:
The two images don’t give much away, but arguably the main thing to take from these pictures is that the traditional turn-based combat style that featured in the original game appears to be gone. In fact, game director Tetsuya Nomura has stated that the combat will “happen without interruption”. Nomura also mentioned that the game world will be “partly destructible”.
Finally, Kingdom Hearts 3 was also teased with the above image. This gives us even less information than the Final Fantasy screenshots. The tried-and-tested combat system seems to be in place, along with a fancy new engine that is facilitating the next-gen graphical effects on show.
Both titles are deemed to have “a way to go” before release, according to Nomura, yet the fact that both games appear to be in some sort of playable state is encouraging. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on both titles as time goes on.
