Pokémon GO, as we all know, was huge.. for awhile. It soon got old though, and for good reason, the amount of Pidgeys that I have caught is just sickening.

Today though, Developer Niantic announced that trainers will soon have the opportunity to catch critters hailing from the Johto region. For those of you not so au fait with the world of Pokémon, that means that you will be able to encounter Pokémon from Pokémon Gold and Silver. Around 80 Pokémon have been confirmed to emerge in the real world once this update lands, and about time we say.

That’s not all that this update will bring though. Niantic have said that this update will introduce what they call “new encounter gameplay”, as well as new items used for Evolution, new berries with one that slow opponents down. Players will also be able to customise their trainer more, with additional outfit options coming also.

This update is well overdue. We’ve waited way too long for this in my opinion. I know that Pokémon GO as a whole has definitely needed some creases ironed out, and I’m sure that’s where developement has been focused for the majority of the time, but we certainly could have done with an update like this much sooner. I’d even go so far as to question if this update will draw people back in, in the way that this game drew people in when it first dropped. I’ll be sure to give it a go, nonetheless, as I’m just one of those people that will play anything with Pokémon in the title.

What do you think? Will this get everybody out on the streets again, trying to be the very best, like no one ever was? Or is the formula dead in the water, seeing as it hasn’t been given much attention since the get-go last Summer? Let us know what you think.
