In June, 2016, Bandai Namco revealed Tekken 7, announcing that it will release on PS4, Xbox One and Steam. Today, January 23rd 2017, we were given another little glimpse at the upcoming title, and also saw a small child getting kicked into the face by a middle aged man, sending him flying. This made us laugh. See trailer below.
We now also have a release date. Woohoo! The familiar gang of brawlers will return to our living rooms (and in this case PC screens) on June 2nd, 2017.
This writer hopes and prays that this iteration will not be anything like Tekken 6, which, for me, lacked substance and was just plain boring. Judging from the above trailer, though, it definitely looks to have a lot more to it, showing more into the backstories of these intriguing characters.
In a previous trailer, we were shown that there would be a crossover between Tekken and Street Fighter also, seen in the image below. We here at QuestMode are certainly interested to see whether this will feature more than just one character.
There are various different packages available when you purchase or preorder, all depending on how much you’re willing to spend. Our favourite would be the Tekken Collector’s Edition, which features a 12” tall by 18” wide statue of Kazuya fly kicking Heihachi in mid-air.
The PS4 version of Tekken 7 will contain exclusive content: legacy costumes from Tekken 4 and Tekken 2 for King, Xiaoyu and Jin as well as a Jukebox Mode where fans can listen to classic Tekken tracks and even create playlists of Tekken music to listen to while they play. This is a very welcome inclusion indeed. Avid Tekken fans such as myself will definitely love the fact that we can relive the times where the battle didn’t end on the screen, but ended up between siblings. Oh, those were the days!
All aboard the hype train! Ready? Fight!
